Do you believe that "Ignorance is Bliss?" Should our society have a better understanding of what visual impairment contains?
To go along with those questions, what are some stereotypes you have heard people say in regards to you personally or other disabilities in general? How do you usually handle their comments?

Our society needs to have a better understanding not only of physical impairments but mental ones too. Too many people are quick to judge when they find out that an individual has any type of imairment. Ignorance is NOT bliss, but many in society feel they are safer not knowing anything beyond the fact that someone with a disability is different.

Yeah and than it makes them jump down to all sorts of conclusion which shouldn't be happening. I agree with you Melsisa. I just really, hope that people get better educated and soon.

I agree with both ladies on this one. I can be ignorant myself about certain things and what scares people the most is change and the unknown. It is NOT the disabled person's fault if they were born a certain way. It is something that in most cases can never go away.
